Before we left Iloilo City, we had the chance to drop by and try out the food at Salt Gastro Lounge.
As we approached the restaurant, the manager quickly went to us to say ‘hi’. It was nice and it felt like they were very accommodating.
As we were coming in, we smelled the delicious aroma of honey and barbecue sauce. This smell made us very hungry, heh.
We started of with some Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara Sauce. It was a good starter, and their sauce didn’t taste like the generic ones that you can just buy at the grocery.
We also noticed that their personal aesthetic is revolved around road trips in the USA. They have a lot of car plates from different states on their wall, plus skyscrapers of New York City.
Salt Gastro Lounge specializes on their burger so it was only apt that we order one.
This was their Staten Burger, and it has the Beef Patty, Mozzarella, Mayonnaise, Caramelised Onions, Lettuce, and Gorgonzola Cheese. It was probably one of the juiciest burger that I have ever bitten into.
All their burgers come with a side of Fries, which is really crispy and well seasoned.
I opted for some Orange Juice before our meal started. It was a canned one and it wasn’t fresh, which is sad but a bit acceptable.
Their bar is pretty amazing because they have draught beer from different parts of the world! I just wanted to try every single one of them!
I ordered their Shrimp Puttanesca, and it has Anchovies, Capers, Olives, Tomato Sauce, and Shrimp. Every bite was ridiculously good! Definitely loved this dish. I tried recreating this when I got home, but it was impossible. It was so good that as I’m writing this, I can still tasted it in my head…which is weird.
We all got a glass of beer each because it was a great night and we wanted to celebrate our triumphant trip to Iloilo City!
This was their Grilled Tenderloin Steak, and it came with Gravy and Spiced Potato Fries. Their steak was juicy and very well seasoned. It was so tender and so yummy that you don’t even need to dip it in gravy for it to be delicious!
How cool does their bar look like?
Now this dish definitely won the night! It’s their signature Lemon Crème Brûlée. I have no words on how delicious this was. It came with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream drizzled with Caramel Sauce, some Raisins, Mint, and crumbs of Chocolate.
We also had to try their Fried Mars Bars. It came with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream and is drizzled with Caramel Sauce, Nuts, and has a layer of Chocolate.
It had an interesting taste. It was like biting into a pancake…but with candy inside. It was an experience but I wouldn’t order it again. I guess it’s not for my taste buds.
They also have a live band performing every night, which was cool! They sounded very well too!
Our trip to Iloilo has been a success, and it deserved a toast with a big glass of beer! Micah, Kendel and I had braved the streets and are now safely back home (well i’m still travelling but you get the picture).
SUGGESTION/S: This was located at a building and we had trouble finding it. I mean, the building was fine and we got there quickly, but we had trouble locating where it was inside the building, so maybe a bit of light and a bit of signage would be nice so people could easily see and locate where the place is.
DIRECTION/S: The building where Salt Gastro Lounge is located is right across the University of San Agustin. You can’t miss the building.
Many thanks to the manager and owner of Salt Gastro Lounge for welcoming us and for making us feel like home. We had such a lovely time, and the meals were really delicious. Will definitely go back if we ever come back to Iloilo City!
