A month ago, I had the pleasure of experiencing an authentic Turkish Bath in Turkey.
The people over at Kilic Ali Pasa Hamami in Istanbul were nothing short of amazing and professional. This actually wasn’t my first hamam experience because I’ve already done one in Taroudant, Morocco, but this one was amazing and so much better. I’ll let you see for yourselves.
Getting to the hamam was not a problem because it was along the main road, and there was a huge and popular mosque right beside it. The tram stop that you would have to get off at is Tophane.
The interior of the hamam was just lovely and vibrant. It was mostly wood and red bricks with a lot of windows for the light to come in. It was very relaxing.
These were the couches in where you can lounge around with your friends and family after you have done your treatments.
I love the contrast that the green plant gives this little space.
Light really does wonders to a room. Of course, man made light is great but natural light is even better!
The chairs are where you get to sit down before you go into the main sauna. You just chat here with the staff and the guests, and it was a really pleasant environment to be in.
I mean, look at that couch. Does that not look comfortable to you?
I also love the details on their chairs. It was very rustic and modern at the same time.
I think I stayed for about a good half an hour just sitting and relaxing in these couches. I dreaded the thought of being so relaxed and forcefully being dragged back outside where it was very cold. Ha!
Of course, they have marble everything! From the hot stones to their water fountain. It was truly beautiful and very classy.
This is what you see as you enter into the door.
Of course, more windows for that natural light to come in.
This was how it looked like on the inside. It was kind of foggy in this photograph because it was really hot inside (it was a sauna so, go figure) and my camera’s lens just started to fog and get extremely wet so this was the only decent photograph I got to take.
I had a really great time at Kilic Ali Pasa Hamami and I, most definitely, recommend this spot to anybody who is in search for the best and most perfect hamam in all of Istanbul. Oh, and this hamam is actually on the European side.
This was the tower of the mosque beside the hamam.
I truly recommend Kilic Ali Pasa Hamami and I cannot wait to go back!
SUGGESTION/s: To be honest, this was such a perfect hamam and I cannot say anything else because it’s already the best. Ha!
DIRECTION/s: I came from my hostel in Sultanahmet and I took the tram via the Sultanahmet Station to Tophane Station. The tram in Istanbul is ridiculously easy to use and I would recommend taking it because it can be a bit of a walk. Click HERE for the direction.
I would like to thank everybody over at the Kilic Ali Pasa Hamami for being so amazing and hospitable. Coming here was a great idea and I loved every bit of it. The traditional Hamam Ritural where you get scrubbed from head to toe then bathed. Then I got a very nice bubble massage, which was unexpectedly amazing. I have never experienced nor heard of a bubble massage so it was a first for me. Hopefully not the last!
After my bath, I lounged on one of the couches and ate a cheese flaky pastry and drank orange juice. It was really delicious and savoury. I actually am dreaming about it I am typing this. Ugh. Why do I do this to myself? Hahaha!
But yeah, I would like to extend my deepest and sincerest gratitude to everyone over at the Kilic Ali Pasa Hamami in Istanbul, Turkey. The best hamam there is in all of Istanbul, without a doubt! You can visit their website and inquire about their Turkish Baths by clicking HERE. I promise you, you will not regret it! You might even thank me for it. Heh.
Again, thank you to Kilic Ali Pasa Hamami, and ’til we meet again!
