Early this year, I had the pleasure of going back to one of my favourite cities: Cebu City. It was one of the best times and I have met some of the most wonderful people. Not only that, I have been privileged to stay at one of the best (if not the best) hostel in the whole city, Hostel 7.
Hostel 7 was perfectly and conveniently located in the middle of the city. It is very near all of the historical landmarks in Cebu City like Magellan’s Cross, Fort San Pedro, Casa Gorordo Museum and so much more! Plus, Uber or Grab is relatively cheap. But if you’re into immersing yourself fully, you can also ride tricycles and jeepneys to get to where you want to go for a way cheaper price.
The hostel has a rustic feel to its interior. Its wooden floors give it a very homey vibe and what I liked about it was even if it is in the middle of the city, you can still find you peace and quiet in the midst of it all.
My room had a perfect view of the backyard which is fully of trees and greenery. It was very calming, I must say.
Each locker was placed right in front of your bed and a key is provided to make sure that your personal belongings are fully safe.
The beds are styled to somewhat resemble a capsule. They are made of wood with a little shelf, a head light and two outlets for your convenience. It also comes with a single pillow and a very clean and comfortably blanket. Also, their cushion is neither soft nor hard. It was just perfect. I mean, after carrying a backpack for a long period of time, I feel like what a traveller needs is just a very good bed to rest on. Hostel 7 made that possible!
In the hallway, a very modernist bookshelf is placed. You can get a book and you can give a book. I just love hostels who has this kind of nook. It is very considerate, I think.
Now this is my favourite part of the hostel…aside from the bed. Ha! Their bar called Bar 7 is a haven for travellers and locals alike. In the day time, I loved spending my time here just resting and working with a glass of Strawberry-Banana Smoothie and an Omelette. At night, I have spent a considerable amount of time hanging out and dancing with my new found friends. It’s pretty spectacular, to be quite honest.
These are some of the stuff they sell and there are so much more.
Now, if you don’t know, I am a sucker for all things spicy. Saying that I love spicy food would be quite an understatement. But these bottles of Senyor Silly Hot Sauce just completely blew my mind! It was my mistake that I did not buy a few bottles to take home with me. Sad!
Hostel 7 is a hub for people who love travelling, who love having a good time, and for people who love telling stories. I have not made a mistake by staying here when I visited Cebu City because I have made some wonderful friendships and I have spent so much happy times in this beautiful place.
SUGGESTION/s: My only concern was the water system. I once took a shower and the water from the shower head completely ran out and I had to wait for thirty minutes to get the water back. It was not pleasant at all. So I just hope they fix their water system.
DIRECTION/s: If you are going from the airport in Mactan, just click HERE for the directions.
I have very much enjoyed my stay at Hostel 7 and from now on, it is my go-to place to stay in Cebu City. ‘Til the next!
