HOME IS NOT A PLACE, IT’S A PERSON

July 21, 2016

It’s been a while, and I’m terribly sorry for the hiatus. Yes, I am in the US now and I just had the best two weeks of my whole entire life…yet. Ha! So I guess I’ve never really disclosed personal matters here on my blog. I mean, why should I? The world wide web is full of creepy stalkers and judgmental people. But on the other hand, not all of the people here are. So here goes…I’ve been travelling with my boyfriend and we’ve been out and about here in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

But the thing is, he’s left to go home, and I can’t help but cry. I’m such a big cry baby, I’m sorry. Hahaha! But I’m going to share with you guys some photos from our recent trip.

First photo together since Thailand last year!

On our first day, we met at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut and we watched The Future Now Tour with Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas. He was sick that day so it was my pleasure to take care of him. I couldn’t be happier to see him that day! It was the most amazing feeling!

Strolling around Manhattan after church.

We got lost in the Subway on our first try in the city. Hahaha! A Filipina and a Canadian doesn’t do well in American train systems, sorry. But I guess we’ve kind of figured it out now and we’re now pro’s.

The bench says, “On January 17, 1985, not far from this spot, two people met and fell in love.”

This photo was taken on our trip to Boston. We went to Harvard University and bought a cute couple matchy Harvard sweaters. We’re both planning on going to Law School so Harvard has always been the dream for both of us. God willing!

Speaking of cute couple matchy Harvard sweaters…

That one time we were craving so bad for black cherry ice cream but it was raining in New York. We didn’t let the rain stop us from getting our ice creams though. Ha!

Just a casual car ride to the city with my love.

Girls, if a guy doesn’t look at you like the way my boyfriend looks at me, break up with him. Loljk, hahaha! I’m totally kidding, lol.

That one day he dragged me to go hiking at Mt. Beacon.

This was one of the most memorable days from our trip! He literally and figuratively dragged, pushed and carried me on top of the summit because I was a pathetic fattie who’s always tired. Hahaha! I would be like, “Are we there yet?” Then he’d be like, “Nope.” Then I’d be like, “Can we take a break? I need a bite from the sandwich and some water.” Then he’d be like, “Honey, we just took a break like a minute ago!” I could hear the frustration on his voice, hahaha! Sorry, honey! I’ll make it up to you on our next hiking trip…which is never because I’ll never fall into your hiking traps again! Ha!

Our last day…for now–overlooking the Hudson River.

I’m trying hard not to cry as I’m typing this post. I miss him so much. But he’ll always tell me, “Don’t be sad about us parting for now, be happy because we got to spend some time together even if it’s only for a short period. This is not good bye, it’s see you later.” So I’m not sad anymore, hahaha!

Yes, I’m from the Philippines and he’s from Canada. We met some time last summer in Bangkok, Thailand. It wasn’t love at first sight, believe me. He stayed in Thailand and  moved along to Cambodia. It wasn’t love at first and I don’t believe in love at first sight. What I do believe in is second chances and perfect timings. We just remained friends and we kept in touch even when I went back home to Manila and even when he went back home to Quebec. I’d like to thank Mark Zuckerberg for Facebook and whoever made Skype, hahaha! Kidding aside, it’s not easy having a long distance relationship. When he needs a hug, you can’t be there. When he wants some food, you can’t cook for him. When you just want to snuggle him, he’s not there. It’s a hard task, we’re aware of that. But you know what? It’s worth it. Knowing that someone is on the other side of the world just waiting for you, it’s completely priceless. Knowing that someone loves you even though you can’t see each other every single day, it makes my heart glad. Knowing that someone loves you enough to wait for you, that’s true love. So shout out to all the LDR couples who are making it work!

In about three weeks time I’ll see him again, and this time it’s going to be in his home country, Canada! I’m really praying so hard that my Canadian Visa gets approved. Ah! #PhilippinePassportProblems, wait, is that even a thing? Lol, okay I’m weird. I probably should be sleeping now, long day for my Canadian Visa application tomorrow, ah!

People, take it from me, long distance relationships are worth it. It’s so worth it especially when the one you love is your one true love and if you have faith in them. The ingredients to a healthy LDR? It’s simple, you just got to have faith, trust, respect, patience in God’s timing and most importantly, love.

“It was also called Mizpah, because he said, ‘May the Lord keep watch between you and me when we are away from each other.'”
