Before I start this blog post, I just wanted to say that all the photos from this post was taken from Unsplash; a community of generous and amazing photographers.
So it is already October and after Halloween and Thanksgiving, comes Christmas. Now I get asked a lot by friends, family and even my ex boyfriends about what gift I would like. I guess I’m not really that materialistic so I always end up saying, “It’s completely up to you.” However, this could bring a lot of confusion and they might end up giving you something that you don’t necessarily want nor need.
So for this blog post, I have decided to share with you all some gift ideas for your Christian friend. Because, I get how hard or challenging it is to shop for your friends. I have specifically chosen to list up a guide for your Christian friends because I feel like it is always a challenge to shop for them. You don’t want them to be offended or you want to impress them, and make them feel like you care for them.
On this list, can I just say that these are the gifts that, I, in particular, would really love to receive or to give. Shall we start?
A personalized Holy Bible
I feel like a personalised Holy Bible is such an important and sweet gift. Christians have their personal Bibles, well, I do too, but we really would appreciate the thought if you give us a personalised Holy Bible. Because, if I’m going to be honest, the truest form of love and sacrifice is found in this special book so if you give your friend or significant other a personalised Holy Bible as a gift, I feel like there is no truer form of gift giving than that. But then again, that is only in my opinion.
I, personally, would be delighted if somebody gifted me with a Holy Bible.
You can have your Holy Bibles engraved or customised from Christian Book for no more than $7 USD. You can check out their shop by clicking HERE.
A journal is a weapon, especially for Christians who keep track of their progress in life or for Christians who like scribbling down some of their faith goals and what-not. I lose track on how many journals (both faith + day by day) I use in a year. I am currently on my third one for 2018, and they just keep on accumulating. I guess, I must really love writing.
Giving someone a journal is like giving somebody a piece of yourself to take with them. At least, that is how I feel about it. One of my ex boyfriend’s got me journal as a present some Christmases ago and I really, really loved it. I thought about him every single time I wrote on it and wished he were with me on the escapades that I have written down on the pages of it. It was simply special, if I can put it that way. Especially when there are notes on the first few pages encouraging you to live your life to the fullest. Journals are some of my gifts this year for my amazing friends and family. You can never go wrong with journals, I can assure you that.
There are so many places where you can get journals from. I usually just go to Barnes and Noble, or to vintage shops to buy them, but if you do not have the time to go to a physical shop, there are different sellers on Etsy that you can get it from. To check them out, click HERE.
A framed photo of something special
Framed photos are always such a fun and personal gift. It can be a framed photo of you and your friend, a photo of a place you’re both longing to go together, or a personal portrait that you took of them, and so much more. I actually always, always give out this gift for my friends who are hosting their house warming parties. To me, I feel like it is such a nice touch and gesture. They can always display it on their houses too. So that’s why I feel like this gift is just perfect, but you can give it out for birthday’s too and, of course, Christmas.
Frames are so easy to find. You can go to Walmart, Michael’s or Target and find a bunch of them. So I know that it is also a very accessible and inexpensive gift. But it doesn’t mean that it’s not special just because it’s inexpensive. We all ought to realise that. After all, gift giving is not about the price tag, it is about what’s in your heart as you give your friend that certain gift.
A couple of greeting cards
I feel like Christians, especially the women, just loves writing and sending out greeting cards. Well, my friends and I do. It is a simple yet extravagant gift to give. Plus, I feel like this can always go back to you. How is that possible? Well think about how your friend is going to send you a card from the bundle of gift that you sent them. It goes back to you with so much in it, like encouraging notes and Bible verses and what-not.
Again, this particular gift is very easy to find because you can literally buy them in bulk from Walmart, Michael’s or Target. I, personally, buy all my greeting cards from either Michael’s or Target. You can buy one bundle for $4 USD at Target, and if you’re at the right time, Michael’s have greeting cards on sale for $5 for 5 different bundles. How awesome?!
An encouraging book
Encouraging books or devotional books are essential. We find inspiration in them, and we feel really amazed and inspired whenever we read them. I have sent out a bunch of inspirational books to my friends whom, I think, is experiencing the same things from the book that I have encountered. They always, always seem to work. I have not yet sent out a book that came back to me with sadness. It has always been such a lovely gift to give and to receive.
There are so many inspirational books at Barnes and Noble so you won’t really have a hard time finding them.
Also, one of my favourite inspirational book is ‘The Purpose Driven Life’ by Rick Warren. You guys ought to check that out.
A case for their smartphones
Now this gift is more on the materialistic side, if I may say so. To be honest, in our generation, our smart phones are really one of the most essential items that we own. You can use them to communicate with your loved ones, take photos of amazing memories, and just use to share things on the world wide web. Now, make sure to think before clicking anything though, because once it is out there, we can never get it back.
Anyway, I feel like smart phone cases are something that I always buy so I think that this is a really great gift for your millennial Christian friends. It can be personalised or you can just get them at BestBuy or wherever, they’re not particularly hard to find. But I find that there are amazing smart phone cases with Bible verses printed out on them. I would really love to receive those or give them to my friends.
You can find personalised smart phone cases with Bible verses on them via Etsy. There are a lot of choices! To check them out, click HERE.
A day out together
Now, this is the most important gift that you can give someone; your time. You see, time is precious, and I was taught to not waste it because this is also something that we can never get back. Once time is wasted, it will be gone forever. So I try as much as I can to give my time to the people I love and care about.
This holiday season, or for any occasion for that matter, let us not forget to make time and spend time with the people we love and care about. Let us hit up our friends and ask them to go out on a date or on a weekend trip together. Call our parents and ask them to meet us for lunch or for a cup of coffee. Visit your siblings and pick them up from school then go grab some ice cream. Don’t forget to buy your grandparent’s favourite cake when you visit them in your hometown. There are so many ways to show people you love them, but spending time with them has the most value to it. After praying for them, of course.
So I urge you, my dear friends, to grab your phone and text the people you love and care about, and just ask them out because we never know when it will be too late.
I hope you guys found inspiration from my list. Definitely will I take some from here and give it to my family and friends. I just love gift giving, don’t you?
