How can I put into words the feeling I’ve felt upon discovering a place so magical and whimsical as Akchour?
To be quite fair, the photos I’ll be sharing on this blog post were our journey and not the actual destination. Because as much as we’ve loved dipping our toes in the blue and cold waters of its waterfalls, we’ve all had an incredible time driving around this sketchy campervan and seeing these Northern Moroccan views first.
It was a chilly December day, and a couple of friends and I have decided that we were heading to Akchour. It was a place filled with nature and even gorgeous waterfalls. It was a friendly hike, which we were all eager to do since we’ve all been secluded in that place that we’ve been staying for a couple of days. So we all whipped up a plan, and we thought that we were just going to take a taxi to get there.
We’ve planned the logistics, but then an unexpected man showed up, and he completely ruined our plan for the better.
He was a Slovenian man, and he had a camper van. Luckily, he was also headed to Akchour, and he asked whether we would be up to join him for the day. I mean, are you kidding? Of course, we were down! Who would turn down an offer to drive around Morocco in a camper van?
The journey was amazing and enthralling. We stopped a couple of times to stare at the majestic mountains of Morocco. We ate some snacks, stood at the edge of the world, and took a whole lot of photos! I thought that it was the perfect time to take awesome snippets of this memorable journey through the mountains.
It had been an experience that I’ll never forget, and I’m sure that my friends felt the same way.
Do you know how they say that the journey can be more beautiful than the destination? Well, in our case, the destination was equally as beautiful since Akchour was one heck of a place! However, our journey was simply a special one. So I hope you enjoy looking through these photos, as much as I’ve loved taking them.
I’ve shared quite a bunch of memories with different people from all over the world, but I’ll never forget the memories I’ve spent with this bunch. There’s Saniya, Cira, Josh, and Jack. We’re all around the same age, but we’re from different parts of the world. I think what really brought us together was the fact that we have the same vibe, the same point of view when it comes to life, and the same passion for travel. There’s always something magical when you’re meeting people who are on the same wavelength as you. It’s something that we should never take for granted.
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, then you’ve probably figured out by now how much I love and adore Morocco. This is my favourite country in the world, and it’s a place that I’m longing to go back to. It’s a place that you have to go to, at least once in your life, and surely, you’ll never regret making the trip.
There’s something special about this short trip to Akchour. I can’t put a finger on it, but it’s a short trip that’s going to stay with me for quite a bit of time. I loved this journey so much, and I’ve loved hanging out with these people I’ve considered my family during my stay in Northern Morocco. They’re a fun bunch, and I’m so glad that I got to be with them at this moment and that I got to share this life-changing memory with them.
You meet some of the most beautiful people on the road, and this is something that I’ve extremely missed since we’ve all been restricted to travel. Aside from the ‘unknown,’ I’ve missed hanging out with people whom I’d never imagined I’d meet on the road, but I’ve grown to love nonetheless.
This magical place is enough for me to smile whenever I think of life and beautiful places in the world. Akchour is a place that everyone should be able to see because it’s a gem, it’s a hidden paradise, and it will simply change your life.
For now, I’ll have to look fondly at these memories since we’re all restricted to travel. Once everything becomes more accessible again, this is one of the first places that I’ll make an effort to return to. So should you.
I hope you’re all having a great day wherever you are, and I’d love to know which place you consider to be the most beautiful place in the world. Leave a comment below, and let’s engage in a conversation!
‘Til the next, and be safe!
